The Sundays - Reading, Writing and Arithmetic

Photobucket

For me, The Sundays was one of a kind band! If you want to hear the heavenly voice, it's Harriet Wheeler, vokalis The Sundays. Suara halus merdu nan angelic Harriet Wheeler ditemani permainan gitar David Gavurin (suaminya kelak) yang harmonis khas pop jangly ala The Smiths dan sentuhan dream pop khas Cocteau Twins. The Sundays pun meraih review baik sekali dari para kritikus musik di negerinya, UK dan juga AS pada awal '90-an. Single pertama album ini "Can't Be Sure" meraih urutan wahid dalam chart John Peel Festive Fifty.

Terutama alunan merdu nada dan vokal Harriet Wheeler di setiap lagu berlirik puitis sekali, you can fall in love with her just by hear her voices, quickly, instantly. So much heaven.

Here's Where the Story Ends." And for myself, this album is the most beautiful gem! It has lots of memories and stories personally. Marr

Q (8/96, p.141) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "...it deserves a frame in the great British gallery of indie classics....gorgeous examples of jangly bedst pop, decorated by Harriet Wheeler's dulcet tones....a sweet, sexy, sticky toffe pudding of a record..."

Source: I had this cd from Taman Puring, circa 2004. Beli sama Mr. Berry, a skatepunk legend di ibukota who used to run a secondhand records kiosk at Taman Puring few years ago, hehehe... :P
